She had her breakthrough role on Netflix’s Sex Education.

And now Amy Lou Wood is set to star in the latest season of The White Lotus.

The British actor, 29, will perform alongside the likes of Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Natasha Rothwell in the HBO hit series, which follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain.

With the third season taking place in Thailand, Wood was no doubt excited to join the cast – but admitted that producers weren’t impressed with her accent to begin with.

“My character was meant to be American and then I did a self-tape, one in an American accent and one in my own,” she explained in an interview with Radio Times. “They were like, ‘Yeah, we want your own voice,’ so my character is going to be from Manchester!”

Wood, who hails from Stockport in the UK, also revealed that she had been advised to tone down her accent while at the prestigious drama school, RADA – but has since found that people love it.

She continued, “They [RADA] said Received Pronunciation was going to be the main accent we needed, so I should know when to dial my accent down. But that’s not been the case at all – if anything, people ask me to amp it up!”

Fans react to the first look at season 3 of The White Lotus

Elsewhere, fans were thrilled to get a first look at the newest season of The White Lotus.

“LIVES ARE GOING TO BE CHANGED”, one excited fan wrote, while another added, “Oh my gosh I am excited!!!”

However, some followers of the show were confused by the yellow-toned filter on the trailer – with many taking to Twitter/X to voice their concerns.

“The third world country color filter,” one noted, while another said, “I know that The White Lotus has always had a yellowish tint, but this is too extreme even for the show’s standard.”

Someone else added, “What is this California during wildfire season filter?” while another questioned, “Why does it have jaundice?”
