No, you are not misreading that headline. Or hallucinating. Although no matter how many hallucinogenics you might take, you would never see anything as weird as the images this story will conjure up in your head.
Robert Kennedy jr who, until recently, was an independent candidate for this year’s US Presidential election before giving that up to endorse Donald Trump, is making headlines again for, and I cannot stress this enough, decapitating a whale with a chainsaw.
Absurdly, this is not even the first insane story involving the former presidential candidate and a dead animal. RFK jr recently admitted it was in fact he who was behind the bizarre ‘dead bear cub under a bicycle in Central Park’ prank. But that still doesn’t come close to severing a dead whale’s head off with a chainsaw.
The whale decapitation story was actually shared by Kennedy’s daughter, Kick, in a 2012 interview with Town & Country. When Kick was six, word got back to her father that a dead whale had washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port. In a COMPLETELY NORMAL turn of events, big Bob ran down with a chainsaw to take the whale’s head clean off (although how do you judge where a whale’s head starts and ends? Probably not the point of the story, is it?) before tying it to the family minivan with a bungee cord.
Oh, it gets worse.
Bobby then drove the whale’s head five hours back to Mount Kisco, New York, while his family, including six-year-old Kick, were forced to wear bags over their heads (sounds safe, right?) with mouth holes cut into them to protect themselves from ‘whale juice’.
“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet. We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”
Yep, like I said, completely normal behaviour.
