Armie Hammer has returned to Los Angeles from the Cayman Islands, where he had retreated to after his career entered freefall following a series of rape and sexual abuse allegations. And the stories about the actor being broke seem to be true as he revealed in a recent Instagram post that he is selling his truck as he can no longer afford the gas for it.

Hammer, 38, moved to the Cayman Islands to be close to his children after his ex-wif, Elizabeth Chambers, moved with them following their break up. It has been reported that the Call Me By Your Name star was working as a timeshare salesman on the islands, after his acting career was brought to a halt after the 2021 allegations.

Hammer was dropped by his talent agency and his publicist after an anonymous Instagram account came forward with stories about the actor’s alleged abuse, claiming rape and even cannibalistic fantasies.

Now back in LA, Hammer shared a video of himself revealing that he was selling his truck after two weeks back in California, claiming that he could no longer afford the gas for it, after spending “four or five hundred dollars” filling it up over the past fortnight.

Talking to the camera on the video, Hammer says, “This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself, because I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time, and I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across [the] country multiple times and on long road trips. Since being back in L.A., I have put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

The actor then adds that he is scaling down to a hybrid, which will cost him “ten bucks a month” in gas and has moved into a new apartment in LA. Hammer finishes the video by saying “Here’s to new beginnings”.

No charges were brought against Hammer surrounding the 2021 allegations, due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
