- Plans for live-action film were announced years ago – before the animated series aired
- Invincible’s creator has confirmed the live-action project is still alive
- Animated series has been hugely popular on Prime

While fans have been enjoying the animated series of Invincible for some years, many still want to see a live-action movie too – and their dream could still come true.
Need for perfection
Plans for a live-action Invincible film were first announced back in 2017 – four years before the animated show made it to air – with Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg to write and direct the film.
But since that initial announcement, there have been very few updates, apart from occasional notes that the project had not been shelved.
But, speaking to The Direct at San Diego Comic-Con, Invincible’s creator, Robert, Kirkham, gave an update on the film. “It’s still in development,” he said.
Really cool
Kirkham added that Universal is still involved in the project. “…the [animated] show is going so well. I think the movie absolutely has to be perfect. And so it’s taking a lot of time, like getting the pieces aligned and getting everything to work so that we can come out and make it as good as it can possibly be. So it’s been in development for a long time, and it’s probably going to be in development for a while longer.”
He also said that the live-action movie will have to provide a different experience to the animated show, but still remain true to Invincible – and this is something that they are spending a lot of time on to ensure it is got right. Another thing that is taking time is condensing a storyline down to fit into the runtime of a movie. “But I think when it finally happens, it’s gonna be really cool,” he added.
