  • Daniels made his NFL debut for the Washington Commanders yesterday (September 8)
  • The rookie paid tribute to the late Rich Homie Quan, who passed away last week
  • The likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Quavo and Playboi Carti paid tribute to Quan on social media

It may have been in a losing effort, but Jayden Daniels certainly made an impression on his NFL debut for the Washington Commanders, yesterday.

The 23-year-old quarterback was on the receiving end of a 37-20 defeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but still impressed overall, despite a few rough moments in his opening game, at Raymond James Stadium

And nothing caught the eye more than Daniels’ celebration when he scored a debut touchdown and promptly celebrated by hitting the quan, the late Rich Homie Quan’s dance, in tribute to the rapper who tragically passed away at his home in Atlanta, last week.

Naturally, social media was alight at the sight of the tribute, loving Daniels’ tribute to the late rapper.

Daniels would hit a second touchdown with Washington trailing 37-14, although no celebration was forthcoming for that effort.

Tributes to Rich Homie Quan poured out from musicians, fans and sports teams last week after the rapper passed away suddenly in his Atlanta home at the age of 34.

Heisman Trophy winning Daniels was selected as the second overall pick at this year’s NFL Draft after spending three years with Arizona State and two with LSU. He signed a four-year rookie contract with the Commanders worth a guaranteed $37.75m.

Daniels will be hoping to produce more celebrations in a winning effort rather than a losing one when Washington host the New York Giants this Sunday at FedEx Field.
