- Singer Mariah Carey asked fans to be patient in a funny clip via her TikTok
- Known for her 1994 track, All I Want For Christmas Is You, Carey is now an icon of the festive season
- If cheesy pop songs aren’t your thing, plenty of gripping movies are dropping on December 25

It may only be October, but Christmas is just around the corner.
And we all know that that means – Mariah Carey is defrosting as we speak.
Ever since she released her 1994 track All I Want For Christmas Is You, the singer, 55, has become synonymous with the festive season,
And while she’s famed for being one of the industry’s biggest divas, it’s refreshing to see that Carey is able to poke fun at herself.
In a TikTok video shared with her 9.8 million followers, Carey can be seen laying in bed on her private jet.
As the intro to her famous festive tune kicks in, the pilot announces, “This is your captain speaking, welcome aboard Mariah. We are headed to the North Pole.”
All of a sudden, the music scratches – and Carey declares, “Not yet! Sorry. They always rush me…”
‘She has kicked Santa off his throne!’
The funny clip racked up 6.4 million views on the video sharing app – with fans going wild for Carey’s witty skit, joking, “We’re so close!”
“It’s almost that time of year, queen!” teased one, while another added, “Literally the only consistent thing in my life is Mariah during Christmas.”
“When you have that one song to feed you for the rest of your life. Goals,” laughed someone else, as another went on, “I don’t care if y’all think this song is getting tired, I live for this.”
Another claimed, “She has kicked Santa off his throne. She is the OWNER of Christmas,” as another person complimented her voice. “Can’t even yell ‘not yet’ without sounding like she’s about to sing. Amazing voice.”
And others were just pleased that Carey was embracing her humorous side.
“People really don’t understand how much she is IN on the joke about her being a diva. Love a self-aware queen,” said one, while another confirmed, “I’m glad she just accepts the joke as is and then feeds it too.”
Christmas Day brings not-so-festive film offerings
If Carey’s twee Christmas tunes aren’t really your thing, there’s plenty of alternative entertainment dropping on Christmas day to spice up your season.
Robert Eggers’ new Nosferatu flick will drop on Christmas Day in the US. The latest reworking of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 original, the film will star Bill Skarsgård as the iconic Count Orlok, a vampire who preys on Ellen Hutter (played by Lily-Rose Depp), the wife of estate agent Thomas Hutter (played by Nicholas Hoult).
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willen Dafoe, Emma Corrin and Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney will also feature.
If that isn’t really your cup of tea, the latest risque offering from Nicole Kidman may be one for you.
In Babygirl, Kidman plays a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family at risk when she begins a steamy affair with her much-younger intern, played by 28-year-old Harris Dickinson.
The movie – which also drops on December 25 – also includes Talk to Me’s Sophie Wilde, and Antonio Banderas, who plays Kidman’s character’s husband.
