- Developer 343 Industries announced a new third-person Firefight mode for Halo Infinite that will be available this November.
- Third-person implementation for Forge and other modes, including PvP, is also being worked on.
Nearly three years after its release, Halo Infinite finally gets a third-person mode this November! During a Forge Panel at the 2024 Halo World Championship, developer 343 Industries announced “a new way to play.”
What We Know
Senior Community Manager John Junyszek and Skybox Lab’s Senior Software Engineer Colin Cove shared more details about the third-person mode at the Halo World Championship.
For starters, the third-person mode will initially be offered in Firefight via an update. The developers also showed an interest in giving players creative freedom over its implementation via Forge. Forge is a dedicated map builder designed to create, test, and play maps in the same place.
Offering the ability to implement third-person mode whenever desired is a game changer for Halo Infinite. Depending on the in-game action, players may potentially be able to implement both first-person and third-person.
A release date was not revealed, and the rest of the details are up for speculation. It is a mystery whether third-person mode will also be available for the Campaign.

Community Response
The Halo Infinite community has largely been disappointed in the lack of meaningful content updates over the years. At its core, the game is still fun, but fans note the slow development time is a major problem.
Over the years, community members have released several third-person modes for Halo Infinite, all of which were well received. Unfortunately, there was no official support, and getting the mods set up was a hassle.
The news of official third-person support is a welcome surprise. For some fans, third-person is exactly what Infinite needs to revive the player base. For others, it’s a sign the developers are still listening to the community.
The 2024 Halo World Championship is still underway. This means more news may follow about the third-person mode and other additions.
