It’s been a big week for One Direction.

Despite officially being on hiatus since January 2016, the band have managed to hit headlines eight years later – thanks to Liam Payne

The Strip That Down soloist, 31, has been the subject of a series of TikTok videos from his ex-girlfriend, Maya Henry.

The 24-year-old claimed that Payne – who has been in a relationship with his new partner Kate Cassidy, 25, since October 2022 – has been obsessively contacting her since their split two years ago.

Henry also revealed that it was Zayn Malik who Payne had a backstage brawl with when One Direction – a group which also consisted of Harry Style, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – were still together. Malik left the band in 2015.

While fans have been divided over Henry’s videos, many were quick to pull a character assassination on Payne – including comedian Munya Chawawa.

The British-Zimbabwean star, 31, couldn’t help but channel Payne in the funny skit, which was shared to his 1.7 million TikTok followers.

Captioned ‘Liam Payne on a normal day’, Chawawa launched into an impression of the singer receiving a delivery package.

Beginning with an impersonation of Payne recently attending his former bandmate Horan’s solo gig, fans were in fits of laughter as they watched Chawawa perform for the bewildered delivery man.

‘I have such second hand embarrassment’

The funny clip has so far racked up 125.6k likes and has been viewed 1.1 million times.

Branding the skit as “Biblically accurate”, one fan wrote, “I’m telling my kids this was Liam Payne… because why does he behave like this!!!” Another added, “Took me a few seconds to realize this wasn’t a Liam Payne post 😂 perfect impression!”

Others immediately understood the start of Chawawa’s clip, and laughed, “I literally was watching a Liam Payne cringe video this morning.” “The way that I showed my husband the vid of Liam at Niall’s show and him not knowing ANYTHING about 1D CRINGED AT LIAM,” said another.

Others provided Chawawa with well-deserved praise. One said, “You are my first source for current pop culture events.”

“Amazing. I mean I hated every second but it was very well done,” another added, while someone else questioned, “How are you so good at imitating absolutely everyone?”

“He has zero self awareness! This is spot on,” laughed another.

Another viewer continued, “This has sent me into orbit and I am losing oxygen,” as someone else concluded, “I have such second hand embarrassment watching this cause I know how accurate it is.”
