  • The Drivers License singer laughed off the incident after disappearing into trap door
  • Rodrigo is currently touring her second album, ‘Guts’ around the world
  • Videos of Rodrigo’s fall have amassed millions of views across social media

You can win Grammys, you can break Spotify streaming records, you can be heralded as “Gen Z’s most versatile new artist” and the voice of a generation but sometimes you are going to also eat s**t on a fall through a trap door in front of thousands of people and go viral on the internet because of it. Them’s the rules, Olivia Rodrigo. Sorry.

Fortunately, the Driver’s License singer was unharmed, but the plummet Rodrigo took on-stage during her concert in Melbourne was still a situation that could have been far more serious.

In multiple videos that have gone viral on social media, the three-time Grammy winner can be seen racing across the stage at the Rod Laver Arena to wave at one section of fans. However, as Rodrigo makes her way back across stage, she disappears through a trap door in the stage and narrowly avoids suffering major injuries.

The 21-year-old returns to the stage quickly enough, reassuring the 14,000 fans in attendance that she’s OK, laughing, “Oh my God, that was fun. Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s all right,”

Various videos of Rodrigo’s accident have been viewed over eight million times on X at the time of writing. On top of the fall, Rodrigo also reportedly tore out some of her hair extensions during another number, according to The Mail Online.

The concert was Rodrigo’s fourth and final show in Melbourne on the Guts tour. She will now travel to Sydney to play four sold out shows at Qudos Bank Arena on October 17, 18, 21 and 22. The tour, Rodrigo’s first in arenas, has also seen her perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 Arena in support of her Grammy nominated sophomore album ‘Guts’.
