- Renewal comes just a month after season four finale was released
- The third season of Slow Horses was nominated for nine Emmy Awards
- Season five of Slow Horses will be broadcast in 2025

Nothing slow here – Apple has renewed comedic spy thriller series Slow Horses for a sixth season just days after the finale of the fourth season dropped.
Big hit
The finale of season four aired on October 9, while a fifth season was commissioned earlier this year and will air in 2025.
Slow Horses has been a big hit for Apple in recent years. The show follows a group of dysfunctional British intelligence agents working for MI5. The members of the team have ended up a Slough House due to mistakes in other roles, and they often find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors world of espionage.
The ensemble cast is led by Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb. Other cast members include Kristin Scott-Thomas, Saskia Reeves, Jack Lowden, Hugo Weaving, Samuel West and Aimee-Ffion Edwards, among others.
Season six will be based on ‘joe Country’ and ‘Slough House’, the sixth and seventh books in the Slough House series written by Mick Herron.
“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe at Apple TV+.
There could yet be more seasons of the drama, as Herron continues to write Slough House books – he is currently penning the ninth book in the series.
Horses fare better than Bandits
Slow Horses has fared much better than Time Bandits, which was recently cancelled by Apple after just one season. Time Bandits had a strong cast, led by ex-Friends star Lisa Kudrow and the show had mostly favourable reviews when it was released but didn’t back this up with viewers – it didn’t make it into Neilson’s Top 10 Streaming rankings on any weeks where new episodes were released.
