- Matt Damon is also being lined up to star in Nolan’s film
- Little is known about what the subject of Nolan’s film will be
- Nolan has written the script for the film and will also direct it

Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan’s as-yet-untitled next film, which is set to be released in 2026, it has been revealed.
Under wraps
The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Holland has signed on to star in the film. It was reported recently that Matt Damon is also in talks to take a role in the film.
But other than these two stars, very little is known about Nolan’s film. All that is public knowledge is that it has been written by Nolan, who will also direct the feature, which has a slated release date on July 17, 2026. Nolan is also producing the feature alongside his wife, Emma Thomas. He is also working alongside Universal again, as he did with his last film, Oppenheimer. However, this lack of detail is not unknown for Nolan projects.
The only hint at the plot is that it won’t be set in the present day – but whether that means it will be in the past or future isn’t clear.
Oppenheimer was one of the biggest films of 2023 and took home seven Oscars at this year’s ceremony. Globally, the film, which starred Cillian Murphy and Damon, made $975 million at the box office.
Busy time
With production set to begin sometime early in 2025 for Nolan’s new film, it could be a busy time upcoming for Holland, as the prospect of a Spider-Man 4 film has inched closer. Holland recently revealed that he has seen a script for a potential Spider-Man 4 movie. He added that he believes the script is “excellent” before adding that it still needs work before it could make it to production.
