Her nuptials caused a stir last month.
And now Lana Del Rey has used her dry sense of humor to make a joke online… or so it seemed.
The Born to Die singer, 39, married her alligator tour guide boyfriend Jeremy Dufrene on September 26. The couple tied the knot in a ceremony by the water in Des Allemandes, Louisiana – the same creek where 61-year-old Dufrene operates his popular swamp boat tours.
While Del Rey has been absent from social media since getting hitched, an account on Twitter/X claimed that the star had changed her Instagram profile picture… to a photo of an alligator in a bridal veil.
The post went viral on the platform, racking up 3.1 million views and 134K likes.
‘Very Louisianacore. Approved,” said one fan. Another added, “This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Someone else said, “Lana, they could never make me hate you,” as a fourth continued, “She loves her man so much, I know a true trailer park queen when I see it.”
However, despite the believable post, it turned out that the tweet was a hoax.
“Btw this is edited/satire, unfortunately Lana Del Rey hasn’t posted or changed anything on her Instagram page in over a month now,” said the cheeky user, adding, “But I am glad so many of you enjoyed my joke.”
‘She never expected to fall for a ‘gator boat captain’
In September, photos showed Del Rey being walked down the aisle by her father, while wearing a flowing white gown. Dufrene wore a chic black suit, white dress shirt and brown leather shoes for their backyard nuptials.
After their vows, the pair strolled past one of Dufrene’s boats – which had been decorated with white flowers for the occasion.
The marriage came just days after they obtained their marriage license on September 23.
The couple first met when Lana performed at the Buku Music + Art Project in Louisiana in March 2019. She took one of his boat tours while in town – but a source revealed, ‘She wanted to go on a boat tour because it’s a big thing in Louisiana – but she never expected to fall for a gator boat captain.”
The continued, “When Lana revisited the area in May to perform at Hangout Fest, they were both single and they reconnected. He saw his golden opportunity and asked her out and they have been together since. She loves older men.”
While Del Rey’s loved ones were initially worried about the partnership, they are reportedly now onboard with the divorced father of three.
“Her friends and team did some digging on him over fears he could be using her, but his business is lucrative and he doesn’t need or want Lana’s money,’ the source said. “They can see he treats her right and he’s very, very low maintenance. He gives her what she is seeking in a man and is romantic.”
