Vision star Paul Bettany has talked of his excitement at the new series coming from Marvel, adding that shooting will begin in 2025.

Reprising role

Bettany will again reprise his role of the android, who appeared in a host of MCU movies, as well as the spinoff series WandaVision.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bettany said: “we’re cooking up something that I’m really excited about.” However, he wouldn’t be drawn on exactly what that was, adding: “snitches end up in ditches.”

However, we do know a few details about the upcoming series. Firstly, it carries on from the events at the end of WandaVision. Secondly, it will see the return of Ultron, played by James Spader. Ultron was created as a sentient android by Tony Stark as a defender of the world, but he ended up turning against humanity. Ultron was last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Vision has a complicated history. Having been created when Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S AI was downloaded into an android body, he fought for good, but was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

But, as usual, with superheroes, death isn’t necessarily the end. As seen in WandaVision, his grieving lover, Scarlett Witch/Wanda Maximoff, then resurrected him via magic, but latterly he was a rebuilt android, although now completely white.

The as-yet-untitled Vision series will be the third in a trilogy, which began with WandaVision, and has continued through Agatha All Along, which is currently streaming on Disney+.

Much to learn

Bettany has praised the series, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I love it… and I am going to watch it again because there’s so much for me to learn moving forward into my contribution.”

How much the events of Agatha All Along will influence Vision remains to be seen. Fans will have to wait until 2026 – an exact release date hasn’t been announced – to find out.
