Her songs were the sound of the summer.
And now Sabrina Carpenter has more cause for celebration – as she has scooped a string of Grammy nominations.
The pint-sized pop star, 25, was given no less than six nods to her work when the announcement came on November 8.
This is the first time in her career that Carpenter has been nominated for the prestigious prizes.
Carpenter – who released her sixth record, Short n’ Sweet, on August 23 – is up for Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Song of the Year for her track, Please Please Please.
She is also in the running to win Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and the coveted Record of the Year gong for her hit song, Espresso.
‘I am filled with gratitude’
In a post to her 42 million Instagram followers, Carpenter shared two silly videos of her reacting to the news.
“Us on the tour bus this morning, take a shot every time we scream like fr headphone warning,” Carpenter wrote.
She continued, “This is the first year I’ve watched the livestream where I heard my name! I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life so I am filled with gratitude – thank you @recordingacademy.”
In the two videos, Carpenter started to shed tears as she learned that Short n’ Sweet was up for Album of the Year, and joked about being nominated for Best New Artist, “I don’t know how that’s possible. I’m the best old artist!”
‘I’m in awe of Sabrina’
Carpenter wasn’t the only one celebrating – as her partner Barry Keoghan also had a few words to say about the singer.
The actor – who starred in Carpenter’s music video for Please Please Please – said he was “in awe” with his girlfriend.
“I’m really, really happy for her,” said Keoghan. “She knows the vision, she knows what she wants.”
