• Second trailer reveals more details about the film’s plot
  • A Quiet Place: Day One shows what happens the day the aliens invaded
  • New film is a spin-off to the previous two movies, rather than a prequel

So what happened on the day the world went quiet? That is a question fans of A Quiet Place have been asking since the first film was released in 2018. A newly released second trailer gives us a better indication. And it looks terrifying.

The first trailer, released in February, gave us a hint at what was to come: it showed a normal, noisy day punctured by objects falling to Earth, and the terror that follows immediately after as the aliens begin their invasion and laying waste to all in their way.

In this second trailer, we see more of what happens in New York, including how quickly it falls – with a couple of spectacular set-piece explosion scenes. But two characters team up to try and escape the city – knowing that if they stay, they will die – having worked out that they will have to do it as silently as possible.

As the film is a spin-off to the first two films, rather than a prequel, it features a largely new cast in this film – there are no members of the Abbott family, for instance. Stars include Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) and Alex Wolff (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), although Djimon Hounsou reprises his role from A Quiet Place Part II as the unnamed ‘man on the island’.

The trailer concludes with the characters running down a glass-roofed corridor as aliens drop in through the roof behind them. Will – or how – will they escape? You can find out when the film debuts in theaters on June 28.
