Ever watched the X-Men and thought that you’d love to stay in the mansion they call home? Well now you will have the chance thanks to Airbnb.

The mansion, based on the one seen in the hugely popular X-Men 97 show from Marvel Animation on Disney+, even has the severed head of a Sentinel sitting outside.

The mansion is on top of a hill in Westchester County in New York State and is usually a regular – well, as regular as a mansion can be – residential property. But for a few months the travel and tech firm has turned it into a recreation of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, including Professor X’s office and Beast’s laboratory.

This is part of a new ‘Icons’ program that Airbnb is launching, which will give users the chance to stay in iconic properties – some real and some from popular fiction.

This is part of a drive to broaden the appeal of Airbnb, according to its CEO, Brian Chesky in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. While the company is known the world over for providing accommodation, Chesky said he wants it to branch out into experiences, as well as other services and offerings.

Some of the other iconic places that can be stayed in include Carl’s house from the Pixar film Up. The house has been faithfully recreated and can even be suspended in the air, although not by balloons as in the film, but by a large crane.

There will also be experiences on offer at some of the Icons venues. For instance, those lucky enough to stay at Prince’s Purple Rain house, will get the opportunity to listen to rare recordings from the late star.

When Icons launches later this year, there will be 11 venues, with more set to follow. Some will be free, but others will cost up to $100 per person. They will be on a first-come, first-served basis – so be ready to click when they become available.
