Microsoft has announced that several new versions of the Xbox Series X are to be released soon, including a first for the console.

Showcase reveals

The announcement was made at the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 9. Also at the showcase, it was revealed that new controller designs and console wraps for the Xbox Series X would be announced soon.

The biggest news is that, after being rumored for some time, an all-digital Xbox Series X will be released soon. It will be the same as the existing Xbox Series X, but without a disc drive and it’ll be in white.

Also coming soon is a special edition Xbox Series X with a 2TB hard drive, which will cost $450, and a ‘Galaxy Black’ model, which, as the name suggests, has a color scheme themed on a galaxy.

There will also be a white version of the all-digital Xbox Series S coming later this year, which will retail at $350.

There have been numerous special limited edition versions of the Xbox Series X recently, including one with a Spongebob Squarepants design earlier this year.

New console and games

Elsewhere at the event, Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed that Microsoft was “hard at work” on the next-generation Xbox console but didn’t give any hints as to when it would hit the market.

In addition, there were announcements of a raft of new games, including new entries in the Gears of War and Doom franchises. There were also teasers for games including State of Decay 3, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and South of Midnight.
