Ever since it was confirmed that Spider-Man 4 was in the works, there have been questions about whether Andrew Garfield would again reprise his version of Spider-Man – and now he has addressed those rumors.
Garfield made a popular return as the character in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. He appearing alongside the MCU Spidey, played by Tom Holland, and the first movie version of the character from this century, portrayed by Tobey Maguire.
Garfield as Spider-Man again
Since then, fans have hoped Garfield might again return, but he has now addressed those rumors. Speaking to GQ, Garfield said: “I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on. If it felt in line with my soul and was gonna be fun. Maybe I’m gonna have like five kids at some point, and I’m gonna need to start saving up for the school tuition or something.”
So that sounds conclusive. But as he alluded to, he also denied he was appearing in No Way Home and turned up to play a major role. He’s right that people might be sceptical about what he says.
Currently, there are no concrete details about the plot of Spider-Man 4. We know that Holland is reprising his role as Spider-Man but little else. The film is slated to be released three months after Avengers: Doomsday in 2026 so it could be another film in the multiverse.
