Olivia Rodrigo’s number one hit, the season 2 adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1976 book and the Kristen Stewart-fronted Twilight series still popular as ever – it seems that vampires are really having a moment lately.

And now, even Anya Taylor-Joy is jumping on the bandwagon.

This week, the actor, 27, revealed to fans that she had secretly married her partner of three years, musician Malcolm McRae, in an intimate ceremony last year – but, of course, she wouldn’t be authentic to herself if things didn’t get at least a little gory.

Sharing the news on her Instagram page, Taylor-Joy – who has starred in horror films such as The Witch, Split and Glass – wrote, “Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans. The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever.

Happy second (first) anniversary my love… you’re the coolest.”

But among the carousel of photos from the happy day, fans spotted something a little creepy, as Taylor-Joy explained, “N.B yes, those are anatomically correct heart cakes. Yes, I am the vampire Lestat.”

Sure enough, the Dune actor’s wedding cake was two perfectly formed cakes in the shape of hearts, laid out on a white platter in a pool of fake blood… yum.

Weird gimmicks aside, the rest of the day looked beautiful, as Taylor-Joy stunned in a gorgeous ivory, embroidered gown from Dior, complete with a super-long white lace veil.

Guests from the big day included actor and model Cara Delevingne, and photographer Sebastián Faena, who featured in the pictures.

While they have had slightly less-gruesome nuptials, Taylor-Joy is hardly the first A-Lister to have married in secret.

Poor Things star Emma Stone and her comedian husband Dave McCary quietly got hitched in March 2020, while Jay-Z and Beyonce did the same and secretly married in 2008 while in the rapper’s TriBeCa apartment.

Musician Benji Madden and actor Cameron Diaz did the same, and got hitched in her Beverly Hills home in January 2015; while fans had no idea singer Ed Sheeran and his sweetheart Cherry Seaborn were even married in January 2019, until he called her his “wife” in the lyrics to the track he released that year, titled Remember the Name.
