Arcane’s Record-Breaking Budget

Recently, a shocking revelation emerged from an interview with Variety– Arcane is the most expensive anime series ever, it required $250 million for the entire production.
Marc Merrill, one of the co-founders of Riot Games, explained in an interview, that despite the high cost the company had no issue as it aimed to make an exceptional animated show. He said,
“Our ambitions in entertainment haven’t changed. We never intended to operate like a traditional studio with conventional timelines. What did change, as we learned more, was our expectations of ourselves: We realized that getting it right takes a lot more time than we’d originally expected, so we recalibrated our development goals and teams accordingly.”
While such a cost may raise eyebrows, the studio is unfazed. Merrill shared his thoughts on massive investment assuring fans that it was worth it
“We’re more than comfortable with the spend it took to deliver a show that was worthy of our players’ time.”
