  • Grande will pay Gomez $1.25 million as part of the settlement
  • ‘Irreconcilable differences’ cited as the reason for split
  • Couple had married in May 2021.

Pop star Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have finalised their divorce, with the former making a one-off payment of $1.25 million to the latter as part of the settlement.

Grande, who is starring in the upcoming Wicked movie as the good witch Glinda, filed for divorce from estate agent Gomez six months ago, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason, according to court papers filed in Los Angeles.

The divorce was signed off by the Los Angeles court on March 19, and as part of that, Grande will pay Gomez $1.25 million, as well as contribute up to $25,000 to his legal fees. In addition, their Los Angeles home is up for sale and the profits from that will be split 50-50 between them.

The pair had married in a small ceremony in May 2021, having first got together in early 2020. When the COVID lockdowns hit the US in March 2020, they quarantined together. Gomez appeared with Grande in the lockdown video for Stuck With U, her collaboration with Justin Bieber, and in the months following their wedding, they posted pictures on Instagram of their domestic happiness.

However, the marriage later foundered, and they split more than a year ago.

The divorce comes little more than a week after she released Eternal Sunshine, her seventh studio album – and first since 2020 – which debuted at number one in the Billboard 200. It has also gone to number one in nine other countries. The first two singles taken from the album, ‘Yes, And?’ and ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)’ both debuted at number one in the Billboard Hot 100, making her the woman with the most number one debuts in chart history.
