Ariana Grande has just starred in the first Wicked movie – with the second part due to hit theaters on November 21.

But fans are already hoping she has sealed the deal on her next role.

Many of Grande’s followers have predicted that the pop star, 31, will be cast as Megara in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Hercules.

However, Grande has now denied the rumors.

Speaking on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, the Dangerous Woman singer admitted, “I have seen some of that. But it’s never been an actual discussion.”

But although Grande couldn’t see herself in the role, that didn’t stop her from bigging up one of her friends.

“I do think that I would be remiss if I didn’t say this…” she continued. “I think [Elizabeth] Gillies should be Megara.”

“She’s brilliant. Ugh, god. That would be a fantastic role for her.”

Grande continued of her Nickelodeon co-star, “Do you know my friend Liz Gillies? As much as I really love transforming for a role, and I do love the idea of, you know, a darker sort of – ‘c’ asterisk ‘unty’ role like Megara […] I think Liz Gillies should be Megara.”

While she was quick to rule herself out of the lead role, Grande did have her eye on another more, ahem, unusual part.

The actor, who plays Glinda in Wicked, said she would love to take on the role of Philoctetes, or Phil – the satyr voice originally voiced by Danny DeVito.

She joked, “I should play the Danny DeVito role.”

Impressively, Grande then started riffing the part – so she clearly knows the movie inside-out!

Who else could be in the Hercules cast?

Although Grande wants her pal Gillies to play Megara, other online commentators have another star in mind for the part.

Although any cast information is yet to be confirmed, rumors began circulating last summer that Disney was eyeing pop star Dua Lipa to play Megara.

And after Grande’s Variety Actors on Actors chat with Paul Mescal, fans think that if Grande was to take on the part, the pair would be the perfect fit for Meg and Hercules.

While we’ll just have to wait and see who is eventually chosen, what we do know is that the live-action remake will reportedly be produced by Marvel masterminds the Russo brothers.
