All I Want For Christmas For You by Mariah Carey turns 30 this year.

Ever since it debuted in 1994, it has defined many a Christmas season and become an inescapable part of the most festive time of the year. Recently, it topped the Hot 100 for the sixth year running. Based on its iconic status, many other acts have tried to capture the magic with their own renditions.

To mark this milestone birthday, here are some of the most memorable All I Want For Christmas is You covers out there…

Best All I Want For Christmas Is You covers not by Mariah Carey

Fifth Harmony

The girl group were very open about how much they adored Carey and her extensive back catalogue. So it really made a lot of sense when they released their All I Want For Christmas Is You single in 2014.

My Chemical Romance

The kings of emo gave All I Want For Christmas Is You a little pop-punk makeover back in 2004 when the genre was hitting its stride – and it certainly hit the spot.

Dolly Parton and Jimmy Fallon

The Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, teamed up with the King of Late Night, Jimmy Fallon, to sing a duet of All I Want For Christmas is You on his Tonight Show back in 2020. Anything with the Jolene singer is memorable, isn’t it?

Barry Manilow

In 2023, Barry Manilow delivered a cover of the beloved Christmas song in his signature singing style. A bit crooney, a bit cheesy, his die-hard fan base loved it.

The Cheetah Girls

The Disney Channel girl group offered up their cover back in 2005 amid the height of the made-for-TV movie. However, singles Adrienne Baillon, Kiely Williams and Sabrina Bryan were missing their co-star Raven-Symone.

Michael Buble

The internet has a running joke that the festive season only starts when Michael Buble is defrosted and returns to sing us Christmas tunes. One of these was his 2011 crooning cover of the Carey classic.

Mumford and Sons with Kylie Minogue

This perhaps random team-up might have only been for a minute on the 2015 festive edition of Channel 4’s TFI Friday. No one might even want a full cover. Anyway, it was odd but you can’t say it wasn’t memorable once it has reached your ears. Kylie Minogue might just not want to look at banjo ever again.

She and Him

In 2016, the musical duo of Zooey Deschanel and M.Ward dropped their festive album, which featured their cover of All I Want For Christmas Is You. They added their 60s folk flair to Carey’s ditty, and it goes down sweetly.

PJ Morton

You might not know this Grammy-nominated singer but his version of All I Want For Christmas will stay with you long after you listen. This 2018 cover is a duet with singer Stokley. The slow jam features a new arrangement packed with a horn section, keyboards and a calm vocal track.

Miley Cyrus

Back in 2007 during her Hannah Montana days, Miley Cyrus tackled All I Want For Christmas is You while performing at the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade. Looking back, it’s all very tame. How things have changed, eh?

Ariana Grande

Many consider Ariana Grande to be the pop princess heir to Carey so it makes complete sense that the Wicked star would’ve taken to the stage to perform this song. Grande sang the track in 2012 before reinventing herself as a pop girlie following her Nickelodeon breakthrough.

Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey

While strictly speaking not a cover, this 2011 ‘Superfestive’ remix saw Carey join forces with Justin Bieber at the height of his Believe era. Cynics could call it a cash grab – but realists would point out the song’s success doesn’t really need more cash.
