With the success of Black Mirror, stars are queuing up to make an appearance in the anthology series. So who are some of the familiar faces in season 7?

The seventh season of Black Mirror, the runaway Netflix hit anthology horror/dark comedy series from Charlie Brooker, has just landed and fans are going wild for it, as are the critics.

While there might be loads of speculation on hidden meanings in the episodes, as well as people flocking to play the game Thronglets, there is something else that is getting viewers talking – where they have seen some of the stars before.

There are a huge range of stars in season 7 of Black Mirror – so here is where you might have seen some of these actors before.

Common People

Rashida Jones: Jones plays Amenda in Common People. She has been a staple in US comedy shows for the best part of two decades.  She was Karen in The Office (2006-9), Ann Perkins in Parks & Recreation (2009-15) and the titular lead in Angie Tribeca (2016-19).

Chris O’Dowd: Irish actor and comedian O’Dowd first shot to fame in the Channel 4 comedy series the IT Crowd alongside Richard Ayoade in the 2000s. since then, he has had roles in a variety of films and TV series including Bridesmaids (2011), Moone Boy (2012-15) and, most recently, Small Town, Big Story. He plays Mike in Common People.

Bête Noire

Rosy McEwen: British actor McEwen has been building up a reputation this decade. She won a British Independent Film Award for her performance as Jean in Blue Jean. Also in 2021 she played Sash in Close to Me. In Bete Noire, she plays Verity, an off-putting coworker.

Ben Bailey Smith: Bailey Smith plays Gabe in Bete Noire. He is known for his stand-up comedy work (as Doc Brown) but more recently he is known for playing Lieutenant Supervisor Blevin in Star Wars spin-off Andor.

Hotel Reverie

Emma Corrin: Marvel fans might recognise Corrin as the villain Cassandra Nova in last year’s smash hit movie Deadpool & Wolverine. She also appeared in horror remake Nosferatu. Fans of Netflix show The Crown will recognise Corrin as Diana, Princess of Wales, a role they played in the fourth season.

Awkwafina: Mono-named star Awkwafina first found fame in 2012 when her rap song ‘My Vag’ went viral on YouTube. Since then, has won a Golden Globe in the past for her role in The Farewell (2019). She also appeared in films such as Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians (both 2018). In Hotel Reverie, Awkwafina plays Kimmy.

Plaything

Asim Chaudry: Chaudry first found fame as the bumbling Chabuddy G in BBC sitcom People Just Do Nothing, which he also co-created and wrote. He is Black Mirror veteran, having appeared in Bandersnatch as Mohan – a role he reprises for this sequel story. In movies, he has had small roles in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Barbie (2023).

Peter Capaldi: Veteran Scottish actor Capaldi has played numerous famous roles, including a stint as the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who (2013-17), and the infamous perma-sweary spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in TV sitcom The Thick of It and its movie spin-off In the Loop (2009). He was also Mr Curry in Paddington and Paddington 2.

Eulogy

Paul Giamatti: Hollwyood veteran Paul Giamatti first shot to fame in Private Parts in 1997. Since then he’s starred in a range of movies, including Saving Private Ryan (1998), Sideways (2004) and Straight Outta Compton (2015). On TV, he starred as Chuck Rhoades Jr in Billions from 2016-23.

Patsy Ferran: Spanish-British actress Ferran plays The Guide in Eulogy. She has recently been in Mickey 17 as Dorothy, and has also had parts in Firebrand (2023) and White Bird (2024). On TV, she was Mercy Myrtle in Jamestown in 2017.

USS Callister: Into Infinity

Cristin Milioti: In this episode, Milioti reprises her Black Mirror role as Lieutenant Nanette Cole, now leading the USS Callister on a new quest. Last year she earned rave reviews for her performance in HBO series The Penguin, where she played Sofia Falcone. Milioti has also appeared in films such as The Wolf of Wall Street and on TV had a role in How I Met Your Mother.

Billy Magnussen: Magnussen also appeared in the original USS Callister episode as Valdack, and reprises the role in this series. Magnussen has appeared in some high profile movies in recent years including the remake of Road House (2024), The Sopranos spin-off The Many Saints of Newark (2021), No Time to Die (also 2021) and on TV was Adam Randolf in The Franchise (2024).
