- Katy Perry and others went into space on Monday
- It was an eight-minute voyage outside of Earth’s atmosphere
- Some stars have condemned the resources it sucked up

Blue Origin launched its first all-female space voyage on Monday.
Despite being airborne for only eight minutes, it caught everyone’s attention. In large part, this was because of the high-profile nature of some of the passengers.
The historical mission was star-studded as those on board included pop star Katy Perry, broadcaster Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez, the fiancee of the carrier’s billionaire founder Jeff Bezos. The ex-Amazon CEO began the venture in 2000.

While it inspired a million memes reacting to all the silliness, it didn’t charm everyone. Some people were quick to point out it was an expensive publicity stunt that did nothing for the world. A lot of the loudest voices were beloved entertainment industry figures.
