News broke on Monday that actor Gene Hackman had been found dead in his New Mexico home. Hackman, who was 95, was found alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa, and a dog who were also deceased. They were found in different rooms. Tributes poured in from Hollywood towards Hackman and his children.
In a joint statement, three of Hackman’s children said: “He was loved and admired by millions around the world for his brilliant acting career, but to us he was always just Dad and Grandpa. We will miss him sorely and are devastated by the loss.”

The late actor had a career that spanned over four decades, and he starred in films like The Conversation and The French Connection, for which he won an Academy Award. Internet users were baffled by news of the deaths, particularly since Arakawa, was only 63. What was said about Gene Hackman?
Gene Hackman’s daughter Leslie Anne Hackman whose mother is Faye Maltese gave insight into her father’s health before his death. Maltese was Hackman’s first wife, who he was married to from 1956 to 1986.
At first, it seems the family of Hackman speculated that their deaths were caused by a carbon monoxide or a gas leak, but law enforcement started to disprove this by saying there was no evidence of a gas leak in the area at the time.
To the outlet, she said of her father: “‘There was no indication that there was any problem. The daughter of the late actor continues by saying her father was in “very good physical condition.”
She follows that up by reasoning that her father liked to participate in “pilates and yoga” and was “in good health” because of it.
However, she did say his death was “not terribly shocking because he was 95”. The actor was born in 1930. His wife was 31 years younger.
What was also revealed was that she said she hadn’t seen her father and stepmother in a few months, but she praised Hackman’s younger wife for taking care of him.
