Virginia Giuffre died by suicide at age 41. Authorities found her unresponsive at her home in Western Australia on April 25. Following her death, President Donald Trump spoke out about the incident.

Giuffre became well-known after she accused socialite Ghislaine Maxwell and financier Jeffrey Epstein of trafficking her to powerful individuals, including Prince Andrew, when she was a teenager in the 2000s. She later took legal action against Andrew, and the case settled out of court in March 2022.

In June 2022, a court sentenced Maxwell to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking minors for Epstein.

Now, Trump, who had associations with Epstein and who owned Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where Giuffre worked as a teenager and where she met Maxwell, has spoken out about her death.

While at a Virginia airport, Trump responded to questions over Giuffre’s passing.

“That whole situation is very sad – her and others. Certainly, that’s a horrible thing,” Trump said to reporters.

A spokesperson for the Western Australia Police has said that Giuffre’s death was still under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious.

Previously, the 41-year-old had a car accident in March when her car collided with a bus while travelling in Australia. “Virginia, thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and support. She is overwhelmed with gratitude. Today, she remains in serious condition while receiving medical care,” a statement from her family said.

“I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live,” said Giuffre in an Instagram post on 30 March.

In a statement about her passing, Giuffre’s family said she was a “fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse”.

After making her allegations public, Giuffre became an advocate for those who have been trafficked and sexually abused. In 2015, she founded Victims Refuse Silence, a non-profit organization that helps those in need.
