It’s time for Dune universal fans to gear up as the new title, Dune: Awakening, crafted by Funcom, is on the way to their screens.

This is going to be a survival MMO set to take players on a thrilling adventure where they will have to survive in a harsh and challenging environment.
Players have been eagerly waiting to hear from the developers, and finally, the developers have broken the silence by announcing the trailer that will go live on 20 February 2025, at 10 AM EST.
Dune: Awakening is a perfect blend of two thrilling genres: Survival and MMORPG(Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). What is going to set this game apart is its pure survival gameplay unlike usual MMO games where players are more focused on completing quests and doing interactions with other characters.
In Dune: Awakening they will have to stay alive and survive in desert surroundings under scorching sun and deal with the unbearable heat. Adding to the torture, there will be a scarcity of water, making survival more tough.
To stay in such an environment, players will have to rely on crafting through which they will make gears like essential suits and shields, Moreover, as they will progress in game, the option to build bases and vehicles will also be available.
Another exciting element is that players won’t be alone in this challenging experience; the game is also about teamwork; they will have teammates to explore this vast desert.
However, this is unclear if game will go more for team exploration or it will be majorly focused on solo survival.The game was announced in August 2024.
Afterward, players didn’t get much news about it, which made them curious about its release and progress. Then, recently, Funcom shared a teaser showcasing the visuals of Arrakis, which gave fans hope that the game is still on track for an early 2025 release.
Trailer Unveils Release Date & Gameplay
Now, the trailer has been finally dropped, revealing the release date: 20 May 2025 on PC. The trailer’s description goes, “Rise from survival to greatness and challenge the power of an Imperium in Dune: Awakening, a multiplayer survival game on a massive scale.
Survive the sandworm, craft your ornithopter, build a fortress, and ascend to power on an open world Arrakis shared with hundreds of other players.”It begins with displaying the fire and destruction and uses iconic statements like ” if the sands won’t take you,, the storms will swallow you”, highlighting that there is no escape, yet players have to survive.
But then players are given hope by mentioning that they won’t be alone; it shows the team members riding in the desert in vehicles. The game will take players on a journey where they will have to deal with massive desert creatures and other challenges that will come their way.
Dune: Awakening is setting up to be one of the stunning game in the list of other survival titles, offering both solo and multiplayer experiences desert world.
