Future Plans Revealed
During EA’s Q2 2025 earnings call on October 29, CEO- Andrew Wilson addressed concerns regarding Apex Legends. Launch in 2019, Apex earned popularity but over a period of time it went down the hill and the number of players declined, building up anticipations about the game’s future.
The stats given by SteamDB highlight the number of concurrent players- 150,000, way lesser than the number in February 2023- 624,000 players, Gamerant reports.
Although this free-to-play shooter game has generated a revenue of $3.4 unfortunately it couldn’t meet the company’s expectations- was looking forward to a more prosperous output.
In the earning call, EA’s future plans pertinent to the game and its successor are also revealed. Wilson was asked about a potential sequel upon which he didn’t share much rather mentioned that sequels don’t perform as well as the original game.
He emphasized that EA is committed to supporting and improving the current Apex installment- adding new seasonal content and innovations to keep the players invested in it.
Right Now no hope is given to fans about a sequel but what’s more, appreciating EA’s dedication to strengthening the current game despite recent challenges. What players can look up to is the new RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard for which Wilson expressed the optimistic remarks that it has potential for success.
