Eric Dane is one of the most beloved TV stars of his generation. After getting his big break on the Shonda Rhimes’ long-running medical drama Grey’s Antaomy, he left playing Mark Sloan behind in 2021. His next gig was bringing to life the controlling Cal Jacobs in the HBO teen drama Euphoria.
The show, which is known for its adult themes such as drugs, sex, and more, also stars Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya and Jacob Elordi, who plays his on-screen son Nate. It last hit screens in 2022 and recently went into production on its hotly anticipated third season.
However, Dane recently broke the sad news that he had been diagnosed with ALS. The rare muscular condition eventually leads to the inability to speak, eat and breathe without help from a medical professional. However, in the update, he also spilled that he was coming back to Sam Levinson’s set in the coming days.

Dane told PEOPLE magazine, “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week.”

What else did Eric Dane say about his condition?
In the statement, Dane asked for privacy and expressed gratitude to his family. He has wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters Billie and Georgia.
“I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” he said.
