A pig named Albert Einswine proved to be every bit as clever as his name as he escaped from his New Jersey home before evading chasing police for a quarter of a mile before finally being caught.

Police were on a wild pig chase for 30 minutes as Albert proved much more difficult to catch than anticipated, with local detective Sgt Bob Jones admitting to local TV station WPVI “they’re [pigs] faster than they look.”

The trouble started when four-year-old Albert managed to escape from a pig farm in Deptford Township. Police were quickly called to apprehend the errant porker, but the pig had other ideas. In a video posted online by the Deptford Township Police Department, officers were shown trying to lasso the pig, but every time they got near to him, he would run away again.

While the video catches officers laughing as the pig evaded them once again, the joke wore thin as they chased for a quarter of a mile, but finally he was caught and had a leash put on him before being returned to the care of his owner.

Jones joked that Albert refused to listen to commands, adding that everything they learnt at the academy went out of the window during the chase.
