- Sports broadcaster ESPN is launching a new streaming service in the fall of 2025
- It will have a monthly cost, the chairman of the sports broadcaster announced
- The streaming service will have multiple plans, including a bundling option

On 13 May, ESPN announced it will be launching its new streaming service in the fall of 2025. In a short and sweet press release, the sports broadcaster provided details about the new service.
Currently, the sports broadcaster already has a streaming service, ESPN+, which began in 2018.
Primarily, this serves as a place to show a small number of college basketball games and the most highly anticipated UFC fights.

However, subscribers for the platform are down by three percent, even compared to a year ago.
The service will keep the sports broadcaster’s name. See the need-to-know details here.
What is the new ESPN streaming service?
The new streaming service is a “direct-to-consumer streaming service,” according to the broadcaster. But what is the purpose of the new platform? To bring in viewers.
The announcement by Jimmy Pitaro, the network’s chairman, brings big news: all of its content will be available on streaming, without the need for cable.
All of this will be accessible to sports fans for $29.99 a month.
Games will still be watchable on cable and through platforms like YouTube TV, but will no longer be necessary for game access.
Strangely, the streaming service will keep the name ESPN.
“We are providing everything ESPN has to offer directly to fans and all in one place,” Pitaro said. “As we thought about the name, we kept returning to the fact that, across every generation, ESPN is the most trusted, loved, and recognized name in sports, and that we should keep it simple and double down on the power of ESPN.”
Pitaro says the content will be accessible through the ESPN app and will offer users the chance to “choose to bundle ESPN with the industry-leading Disney+ and Hulu streaming services”.
The bundle for all three will start at the $29.99 price point, and will go up to $35.99 should users wish to continue with the bundle after a year.
Users who subscribe to the sports broadcaster in any fashion will receive all the programming from different channels, Pitaro says.
Added features
Also new through the streaming service are advanced features that Pitaro promises customers. Among these, there will be “enhanced betting, statistical analysis, and personalized SportsCenter on mobile and connected TV devices.”
The press release promises other features will be available at a later date.
When is the streaming service being released?
While the sports broadcaster announced the service would be available this fall, they haven’t given fans an exact date.
