The California wildfires have delayed several award show events and several associated with the 2025 Oscars. However, the 2025 Emmys will not happen until later this year, so the show still has the go-ahead. This year marks the 77th annual Emmy Awards. Last year dominating the nominations was The Bear, and winning big at the end of the night was Shōgun with a record-breaking 18 awards and Hacks. The show was hosted by the Levy family, Dan Levy, and his father Eugene Levy on September 15.
There were a fair few viral moments, Kieran Culkin addressing his wife saying he wants “more” to expand their family, Anna Sawai’s historic win as an Asian female lead in Shōgun, and Grey’s Anatomy celebrating the milestone as the longest-running primetime medical drama on television, with a nineteen-year run. No doubt this year will hopefully have the same.

The details are being tightly wrapped at the minute, given the show isn’t for months, but there is lots to look forward to. When are the 2025 Emmys happening?
The 2025 Emmys will take place on Sunday 14 September 2025 at the Peacock theatre in Los Angeles. Broadcast details are yet to be announced. Last year, the show was aired on ABC and before that, it appeared on FOX.
When will the 2025 Emmy nominations be announced?
The Television Academy has given us a range of key dates for the 2025 Emmys and the nominations.

20 February 2025: Open for submissions
12 June, 2025: Nomination-round voting begins
15 July, 2025: Nominations announced
Last year the nominations were announced at an event on July 17, just under two months before the award show on September 15.
When is the eligibility period for nominations?
To have a chance of winning an Emmy, a production must premiere between June 1, 2024 – May 31, 2025.
Where are the 2025 Emmys happening?
The 2025 Primetime Emmys will take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. This was the same venue used for last year’s ceremony.
