Yellowjackets is about to make a dramatic return with its third season.
Indeed, if Steven Krueger’s recent words are anything to go by, the Showtime/Paramount+ show could hit new extremes.
“I think Season 3 will probably be the wildest, bloodiest season that we have,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Granted, we don’t know anything to be fair,” Krueger said. “Granted, we don’t know anything to be fair. I’m just guessing that’s where it’s going.”
For the uninitiated, Yellowjackets follows two timelines, blending thriller, horror and mystery elements. In the 1996 timeline, a plane carrying a girls’ soccer team crashes as they’re flying over Canada. The stranded girls then fight to survive in the wilderness for what ends up being 19 months.
We also see the survivors 25 years later as they reckon with their pasts while struggling with supernatural events along the way.
When will Yellowjackets season three be released?
There’s not long to wait – Yellowjackets season three will premiere on Paramount+ February 14. Its first two episodes will then air on Showtime on February 16.
Following this, new episodes will air on the same Friday/Sunday schedule once a week.
It arrives just shy of two years after season two, which aired in March 2023.
What is Yellowjackets season three about?
The season 3 synopsis reads as follows: “As summer arrives, the Yellowjackets face a fragile victory — the brutal winter that nearly claimed them is finally behind them, but distrust in leadership and tension within the team jeopardize their chances of being rescued.
“In the present, long-buried secrets from their pasts begin to surface. As the women fight to keep their lives from unraveling, they must confront a chilling question: Who are they really, and what dark truths are they hiding from each other and themselves?”
Who is in the cast?
The third season welcomes two new cast members, both in as-yet-undisclosed roles. Hilary Swank is joining the cast and will appear in the back half of the season. The other new addition is Joel McHale, also in an undisclosed role.
The series also stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell.
However, it is unclear if Juliette Lewis will return as her character Natalie was accidentally killed in the season two finale.
Is there a trailer for Yellowjackets season three?
The trailer was released in late January 2025, set to the Drowning Pool hit Bodies. All in all, it promises to once again be a season with plenty of action and likely plenty of blood.
