- The former NXT Champion reveals he is heavily inspired by anime
- Dragunov is currently in Germany on WWE’s tour of the country ahead of this Saturday’s Bash In Berlin
- WWE programming moves to Netflix in January 2025
With WWE’s impending move to Netflix only four short months away, one of the promotion’s rising stars has shared his desire to star in one of the streaming giant’s biggest ever shows.
Ilja Dragunov made the move up to Monday Night Raw from WWE’s developmental territory NXT earlier this year, shortly after losing his NXT Title to Trick Williams in a pulsating encounter. But success on Raw isn’t the only superstardom The Mad Dragon craves.
During a recent exclusive interview with Pubity, Dragunov revealed what Netflix show he would have wanted to be a part of and also revealed his love for anime.
“I think a lot of people know about me, I’m really into anime. I love the emotional side of it and I try to transfer a lot of that into what I do in the ring. There are way more ideas that I execute in the ring, that are based on thoughts I have from watching anime, than people know.

“But I also really loved Breaking Bad. I know it’s long ago, but something in that direction would be awesome. I think that’s the one.”
Given Dragunov’s dedication to his craft in the world of professional wrestling, and the acting chops he displayed during some cinematic moments in the build up to his recent NXT Title clash against Tony D’Angelo, at Stand and Deliver in Philadelphia, this past April, we’re sure he could fit seamlessly into a top tier Netflix drama.
Plus, Dragunov going up against Heisenberg? Or throwing down with the Salamanca twins and Tuco? Sign me all the way up for that.
WWE Bash in Berlin airs live on Saturday 31st August from 8PM BST on the WWE Network.
