A horrified family found their dream holiday to Disneyland was in jeopardy when it turned out that a gift of $10,000 gift of gift cards for Disneyland turned out to be for streaming service Disney+ instead.

TikToker Andie Coston posted about her family’s travails and quickly went viral.

She explained that the family had planned to go to Disneyland in 2020 but postponed the trip due to the pandemic. They had rescheduled the trip for this Christmas, with 16 family members booked on.

To help make the trip extra special, Andie’s parents purchased what they thought were $10,000 worth of Disney gift cards to buy tickets and restaurant reservations.

But when her parents came to load the gift cards, they found they couldn’t. After some increasingly frantic investigations, it transpired the cards were for Disney+ instead.

The mix-up happened as Andie’s parents don’t use streaming services and weren’t aware that Disney+ and Disneyland were different. Andie says it was an honest mistake – and something others have done.

To further complicate matters, as the backs had been scratched off it meant they couldn’t be returned.

Cue some panicked attempts to resolve the situation, with many people replying to Andie’s TikToks with suggestions, as well as comfort to her obviously upset parents.

Fortunately, there was a happy ending to the story: a day after Andie’s original post, Disney got in touch with her and converted the Disney+ cards into gift cards, meaning the dream holiday is back on for Andie and her family.
