- Mariah Carey has released a remix of Don’t Forget About Us with Kaytranada
- She released the remix on 10 April
- The song was released in 2005, as part of The Emancipation of Mimi album

Music legend Mariah Carey continues her iconery, as she has remixed her 2005 bop Don’t Forget About Us. The Queen of Christmas, 55, released the remix on 10 April.
It is not the first time Carey has remixed her hits. Carey released a CD in 2003 called The Remixes, which features all her most iconic remixes. Talk about icon behavior!
The re-release of the single as a remix is part of the The Emancipation of Mimi 20th Anniversary Edition, available on 30 May. Being one of Carey’s biggest projects to date, as it is a 45-track 5LP, it made sense to release a remix of such an iconic single.

Don’t Forget About Us was released in 2005 as part of Carey’s legendary R&B album. That project spawned hits like We Belong Together and It’s Like That. There is no doubt that the album served R&B realness and cemented Carey as a legend in the genre.

Now that she has released the remix, here are the online reactions and why she decided to remix the song.
Why did Mariah Carey remix Don’t Forget About Us?

As a result of her 20th anniversary of one of her most transformative albums, Carey is releasing the remix. Kaytranada produced the remix. The producer has produced songs like Lust by Kendrick Lamar, Girl by The Internet, and now Carey’s remix.
Regarding the impact of The Emancipation of Mimi, Carey reflected on the album’s success and impact. While speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she said, “When we got into making The Emancipation of Mimi, it was just like a breath of fresh air…it really was good.”
Additionally, she reflected on what the album was about. “It was really about breaking free of things that I would have done in the past,” Carey continued.
Many of the tracks on the album were transformative and were released when criticism of female artists like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Carey herself was rife.
Continuing to talk about the album, Carey says the album taught her a lot. “I think [the album is] still teaching me that music is long-lasting and that you can really be your true self through it. In terms of what that says about me and my work…I hope people remember it and love it. [Making this album] got me through some moments that weren’t so great by really living through the music,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.
How did the internet react to Don’t Forget About Us remix?
The internet was abuzz over the remix, particularly because Carey was collaborating with Kaytranada.
