It’s been four years since the last James Bond movie, and we’re still no nearer to finding out who will be the next 007

With Daniel Craig stepping down from the role after 2021’s No Time to Die, fans have been racking their brains as to who could step up to replace him.

And rather than finding a new actor, they may have come up with the perfect solution – by recasting one of the stars who has already played 007.

In a poll of almost 1500 people taken by Yahoo, followers of the franchise have a firm favorite to play Bond: Pierce Brosnan.

While the actor may be 71 years of age, the voters believe he still has what it takes to play 007 – with 60 percent saying they thought the move would be a good idea.

Pierce Brosnan admits ‘unfinished business’ with James Bond role

Brosnan played Bond in four films – GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day – before he was replaced by Daniel Craig for Casino Royale.

Although his fourth Bond film was a box office smash, the producers felt it was time for something new, and Brosnan was axed before he had the chance to make a fifth outing as 007.

And it appears as though Brosnan would like to step back into the role.

Back in 2014, he admitted, “After my four outings as James Bond, there seemed to be unfinished business in the way that Bond finished in my life and the way that the demise of Bond, going off stage left into the night, seemed like there was a certain void there of… as I say, unfinished business.”

Pierce Brosnan would be ‘interested’ in James Bond role

More recently, Brosnan reiterated that he would be up for playing 007 again.

“Of course, how could I not be interested?” he told GQ earlier this month.

However, Brosnan added, “It’s a delicate situation now. I think it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie, really. I think so. It’s a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it’s best left to another man, really. Fresh blood.”

While he may have quieted the rumors, we can’t help but think Brosnan is still doing his best to inadvertently audition for the role of Bond once more.

The actor looked every inch the British spy when car manufacturer Aston Martin shared a photo of him recently – posing in front of the car he drove in Die Another Day, the Vanquish.
