- Grohl revealed he had fathered a child outside his marriage earlier this month
- Foo Fighters were due to perform at Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut
- The band did not give an official reason for their cancellation
Foo Fighters have cancelled their first scheduled performance since lead singer Dave Grohl announced he had fathered a child outside of his marriage.
A post was uploaded to the band’s official Instagram account yesterday (Thursday September 26), saying, “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Sounside Music Festival. Please check the festival website for more information.”
Soundside, which takes in Bridgeport, Connecticut, will feature sets from the likes of Jack White, Boyz II Men, Teddy Swims, Fleet Foxes, Norah Jones and Noah Kahan. While Foo Fighters didn’t give an official explanation as to why they won’t be appearing at the festival, it is of course widely suspected that Grohl’s current situation is behind their cancellation.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account on September 10, Grohl said, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supporting parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
The former Nirvana drummer has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003 and has three daughters with her. The couple’s 18-year-old daughter, Violet, deactivated her Instagram account in the wake of her father’s bombshell announcement.
