Fans have been given a good glimpse at the anti-hero’s appearance, as the toy appears to confirm that the design is going to be faithful to the comics.

Funko Pop reveal

The Thunderbolts* Funko Pop line includes figures of Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, and of course The Sentry in costume – which until this point, has been shrouded in mystery.

Funko Pop has already listed Sentry’s figure on Amazon for pre-order, with a release date of 24 March, 2025.

The Sentry is a powerful and complex hero, often described as having the power of a thousand exploding suns. He has superhuman strength, which draws comparisons to Thor and the Hulk, but one of the defining aspects of the Sentry’s character is his struggle with mental health. From his struggles is born his destructive alter ego the Void.

In the comics, his costume traditionally consists of gold or yellow, often with a slight metallic sheen – reflecting his connection to cosmic energy – and a blue cape. He also wears a thick blue belt with a bright yellow ‘S’ on it and blue boots. The character has always been depicted with flowing blonde locks.

It’s fair to say that Funko Pop’s reveal shows a pretty accurate version of the god-like hero and fans are keen for the appearance to look the same in the film. AJjalol took to Reddit to express his appreciation for the look, commenting “Oh wow. That looks really good. Already, I feel like it’s easily one of the best costume adaptation in the movies. That’s Sentry alright.”

Others, however, aren’t so keen on the design. Ghouly_Boy said “The boots, cuffs and belt being the same color as the cape instead of black kinda ruins it for me”, while mariovspino5 added “That’s an unfortunate shade of gold”.

The Funko Pop not only gave fans Pullman’s first official look as Sentry, but also confirmed the rumors that he was playing Sentry in the film. Up until now, Pullman has been referred to simply as Bob, maintaining a sense of mystery around his role, while also aligning with Robert Reynolds, the Sentry’s real identity. In the trailer, Pullman appears only as Bob but shows signs of invulnerability, one of the Sentry’s key abilities.

In a previous interview with People, Pullman said that his character in Thunderbolts* was “all a mystery”, even to him when asked about it. “I was as surprised as everyone else to see what is happening with [my character] Bob, and it’s all a mystery”.

The anti-hero joins a team of Marvel misfits in the upcoming movie that includes Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Ava Starr/Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).

Thunderbolts* hits theatres on 2 May, 2025.
