Halo
  • Halo Infinite 2 was reportedly dismissed for Unreal Engine 5 due to leadership changes.
  • New management left the 343 Industries (Now Halo Studios) creative team feeling unsupported, disappointing fans.

Cancellation of Sequel

Fans of the Halo series may be in for disappointment as a new claim suggests that the Halo Infinite 2 was in the making but now has been scrapped. If it is true then it can surely be saddening for players who have been waiting so long for a sequel.

Rebs Gaming, who is known for covering the Halo news said that Halo 2 was being developed using the Slipspace Engine, which powered the first Halo game but the unfortunate cancellation happened due to the shift in leadership in 2022,

And a bold move was taken in favor of Unreal Engine 5 instead of Slipspace Engine. “343’s creative team spent a few months learning Unreal Engine 5 to prepare for the next project,” he mentioned.

“This lasted until January 2023 when Microsoft laid off a significant amount of 343 employees, including the entire creative team.” Further claims have been made regarding the new leadership that took over the studio,

The team “never felt supported” by them. Rebs continued: “The campaign team felt trapped in a bubble without studio-wide collaboration and clarity about what was happening at the studio, and its plans for the future”.

Fans are left with a range of emotions, including bewilderment and lingering hope, with no obvious way ahead. As for now, there is no clarity on how and when the new game will turn out, whether it will be Halo Infinite 2 or something else.

Till then stick to the updates so you may know what is coming on the way.
