- Halo Infinite unveils S&D Extraction for a tactical experience
- Players get one life per round with a best-of-11 match format
- A unique economy system adds strategy to gameplay

On its official website, Halo Waypoint, Halo studies have revealed that a brand new gaming mode is coming later this year to Halo Infinite – S&D Extraction (Seek and Deploy).
A Tactical Twist on Halo’s Gameplay
An action-packed sneak peek, featuring the basics of the mode, was also shared with the fans. Analysts consider this mode an attempt by Halo Studios to compete in the tactical shooters market.
This suggests that the mode likely slows down traditional Halo gameplay, making it more methodical and teamwork-oriented rather than the fast-paced, run-and-gun style the series is known for. Seek and Deploy is built on the same principles as tactical shooters like Counter-Strike and Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy.
Seek and Deploy includes distinct features, in each round players will have only one life, meaning if a player dies there will not be any respawn. The matches are played in a best-of-11 structure, meaning the first team to win six rounds secures victory. It sounds thrilling but challenging work.
At the start, one team plays the offense while the other defends, alternating after each round. Moreover, the maps are asymmetrical and feature two designated Extraction Sites.
Which of the two sites should be attacked and when should the extraction process be initiated? This is decided by the team that played the offense. The objective of the defending team is to counter that attack and prevent the extraction from being completed.
Economy System & Buy Back Mechanic
Another feature of Seek and Deploy is its economy system, which is similar to that of Counter-Strike and VALORANT. Players will be awarded extra credits for completing different tasks like initiating Extractions, converting Extractions, and achieving kills.
These credits can be used for purchases before the start of the next round. The cost of each item will depend upon its power. These purchases will be available for only that round and will disappear in the next rounds.
Halo Infinite has made the tactical mode thrilling by introducing a Buy Back system. This system allows players to get back in the game after getting eliminated by paying enough credits.
However, this method is quite costly and may not be suitable for everyone. Even three years after its release, Halo Infinite has been continuously evolving in interesting ways.
With many already established and well-serving publishers, it will be very interesting to see how Halo Infinite will step into the tactical shooters market. The official release date has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to arrive later this year, now excited fans are eagerly anticipating the mode.
