Haliey Welch – also known as the Hawk Tuah girl – now has the third most popular podcast on Spotify in the US, despite only launching it last month.

Beating all comers

Welch, the living embodiment of ‘making the most of your chance’, launched her own podcast, Talk Tuah (which is a great name in all fairness) in September and it has quickly become a huge hit. The only podcasts more popular on Spotify were The Joe Rogan Experience and The Tucker Carlson Show – two very well-established podcasts.

Talk Tuah is billed as a ‘cozy talk shoe featuring lively conversations, celebrity guests, humorous anecdotes, relationship advice, sports updates, and a dash of Southern hospitality.’ Guests so far have included Whitney Cummings and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Overnight sensation

Welch became an overnight viral sensation earlier this year after appearing in a vox-pop interview by Tim & Dee TV. In answering the question ‘what’s the one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?’ she responded: “You gotta give ‘em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang.”

The ‘hawk tuah’ bit is the onomatopoeic sound effect made in cartoons and Western spoofs where a cowboy or some villain spits into a metal spittoon.

Since then, Welch has made the most of her time in the spotlight, appearing at a range of events and meeting a slew of celebrities, including Shaquielle O’Neil. She also gained a management team, who have ensured that her time in the spotlight is maximised. This has also included teaming up with Fathead Threads to sell official Hawk Tuah hats.
