- The sci fi horror drama has just been renewed for a fourth season
- A cult fanbase has sprung up around it
- It has been compared to Lost and The Walking Dead.
It’s an underrated gem, but for those in the know, FROM is starting to generate a significant amount of hype.
The show first aired in 2022 on on MGM+ and has just been renewed for a fourth season. Fans compare it to shows like Twin Peaks, Lost and The Walking Dead.
On top of that, it’s generated a cult fanbase who call themselves the FROMILY. Thanks to their fervour and word-of-mouth support, it’s been able to substantially grow in popularity as new episodes have come out.
The critics evidently like it too. The first three seasons have received a score of 96 per cent, 92 per cent and 100 per cent, respectively, on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
What’s the premise of FROM?
FROM follows the story of a group of people trapped in their small town. Should they ever attempt to leave, something sends them right back.
If the stakes weren’t high enough, they encounter more trouble when night falls. The residents must lock themselves inside to protect themselves from creatures disguised as humans from the surrounding woodland that roam after dark.
The characters, led by the town’s sheriff Boyd (Harold Perrineau), must find a way to survive their deadly circumstances against the odds.
Who stars in FROM?
Alongside Harold Perrineau as Boyd, the rest of the cast comprises Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, Scott McCord and Elizabeth Saunders.
Another fun fact considering the Lost comparisons is that the show’s director, Jack Bender, also worked on some major episodes of the disaster drama. He has also worked on Game Of Thrones.
When is the fourth season going to air?
Although FROM’s third season only aired in September, fans are already eager to know when they might get to see another instalment.
There is a timeline for season 4, but viewers will have to wait a while. Filming will begin in Nova Scotia, Canada in 2025 and is expected to be released in 2026. It might be a while away, but it means newcomers have plenty of time to dig in and get invested.
When news of the show’s renewal were emerged, producer Jeff Pinker said: “We are thrilled by the support of our fans and our partners at MGM+ and are so excited to share the next chapter of our story with our FROMily. By the end of season 3, our characters will begin to understand why they are trapped in FROM Town… but will understanding help them to escape? And if so, how?”
