- Lopez has filed for divorce from Affleck, ending the couple’s two-year marriage
- The news ends months of speculation over the health of their relationship
- Couple had first got together in 2003 before splitting up, only to rekindle their relationship years later

Bennifer is no more – Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are to divorce, just over two years after they tied the knot.
Ending speculation
Lopez filed for divorce at Los Angeles County Superior Court earlier this week. This ends months of speculation about their relationship. The couple had reportedly put their Beverley Hills mansion up for sale – $65 million if you’re interested in making a bid – and both had been snapped out and about without their wedding rings on, which fuelled rumors that all was not well in the relationship.
Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, married in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a larger ceremony in Georgia the following month. The pair had first become an item in 2003 after they met on the set of the film Gigli and had planned to marry before ending their relationship in 2004.
The pair then went off and married – and divorced – other people before rekindling their relationship nearly 20 years later. At the time of their wedding Lopez said: “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
But it appears love was not forever. The court filing says that Lopez or her attorney must notify Affleck with a copy of the petition for divorce, according to the BBC. In addition, both must disclose information on their current income, expenses, property and debt – this is ahead of sorting out financial issues in the divorce.
Previous relationships
Affleck was previously married for 10 years to fellow actress Jennifer Garner, and they had three children together. Lopez meanwhile has had three previous marriages, to waiter Ojani Noa from 1997-8, dancer Cris Judd from 2001-3 and singer Marc Anthony from 2004-14.
