Joe Biden was unhurt after an SUV crashed into his motorcade after an event in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
Biden had been attending his campaign headquarters with First Lady Jill Biden when the incident occurred. After exiting the headquarters after a meal with his re-election team, the President had just responded to a question from a journalist when a silver car hit a stationary SUV that was part of the team shielding the Biden’s motorcade.
Following the collision, secret service agents moved quickly to ensure the Bidens were moved into a waiting car. Meanwhile the car that hit the motorcade was surrounded by security officers who drew their weapons, whereupon the driver quickly put up their hands and surrendered.
The damage was not extensive – witnesses reported damage to the bumper of the car – and the Bidens were uninjured. It is not yet known what caused the car to collide with the motorcade.
