Josh Hutcherson girls watch out because the actor said he’d be willing to go back to The Hunger Games! Hutcherson played the quiet but handsome Peeta Mellark in the movies. Peeta is Katniss Everdeen’s main love interest and her companion throughout their time in the Capitol where they are forced to fight to the death. You know, lovely things. He was a breadmaker and baker before entering the Games and had no experience with weapons. Throughout the movie, Peeta becomes stronger and more independent in fighting for himself and Katniss.

The Hunger Games movies are based on the books by Suzzane Collins. The trilogy follows teenager Katniss Everdeen as she is forced to volunteer to fight to death in The Hunger Games to stop her younger sister Prim from being drafted into the fight.
The role of Katniss was played by Jennifer Lawrence. Collins’ books and movies were an immense success. Their success has resulted in a prequel, The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes, and the recently released secondary prequel Sunrise on the Reaping. This will also have a movie which is scheduled to release in 2026.
But fans of the original trilogy have been waiting for the original cast to return. Now Hutcherson has got fans’ hopes up at a convention. See what he said here!
What did Josh Hutcherson say about playing Peeta Mellark again?

Hutcherson recently attended the Dream It Convention in Paris where he spoke about returning as the beloved breadmaker. He said he would “happily play Peeta [Mellark] again” if he was asked to.
Hutcherson continued, “I’m curious to know what happens between when they have their family and where the story ends, just to understand what happened in the world. But I’m down!”
Spoilers here, there is your warning! In the epilogue of Mockingjay, Katniss reveals that she and Peeta have a son and a daughter. She speaks a bit about her PTSD but ultimately reveals to readers that she and Peeta are happily married.
The epilogue skips ahead in time from where Mockingjay ends, so the story in between could be explored by Collins in another book.
Has Hutcherson said anything else about returning as Peeta?
Speaking to Screen Rant in 2023, he said he’d “absolutely” return to The Hunger Games on one condition. “Getting me and Jen, Liam, Woody, and Elizabeth. If we get the whole gang back together, I’m in 100%,” Hutcherson said.
However, no plans have been made yet for Hutcherson to return to the franchise.
Most recently, he has starred in The Beekeeper and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
