- The actor isn’t sure if his body is up for another John Wick film
- He will reprise his role for spin=off film Ballerina
- The possibility of a sequel hangs in the balance after John Wick 4’s ambiguous ending

Keanu Reeves appears to be torn over whether he is up for a fifth John Wick film.
In an interview with CBS News, the actor said that while he was intrigued by the idea, the feasibility of it depended on his physical health. After all, Reeves is now in his sixties and the role is notably physically demanding.
“You can never say never,” Reeves said. “My knees right now are saying ‘I can’t do another “John Wick.”‘ So my heart does but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”
His comments echo another recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, I wouldn’t do a ‘John Wick’ film without [director] Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace,” he said.
“It destroys Keanu, physically and emotionally”
The strain that playing John Wick has put on Reeves was brought into focus in an interview franchise producer Basil Iwanyk did with Collider.
It’s well known that the ending to the fourth film is rather ambiguous concerning John’s fate, but Reeves wanted to go a step further and have the character killed off entirely.
“After the second, third, and fourth movie, making these films is so exhausting and it destroys Keanu, physically and emotionally,” Iwanyk said. “By the end, he’s always like, ‘I can’t do this again,’ and we agree with him. The guy is just a shell of himself because he just goes off and goes for it. He was like, ‘I wanna be definitively killed at the end of this movie.’ We were like, ‘You know, we’ll leave a 10% little opening.”
Lionsgate has shown interest in making a fifth John Wick film, but any potential project does not yet have a firm release date.
What’s Keanu Reeves doing next?
Despite his reservations about a potential John Wick 5, Reeves is reprising the role for the the spin off Ballerina. It will be released on June 6, 2025 and is set between the events of the third and fourth films.
Reeves has also been voicing the character of Shadow in Sonic The Hedgehog 3 alongside Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and Jim Carrey.
