Emma Watson has been relatively out of the spotlight recently. She shot to fame as a child in the superly popular Harry Potter film adaptions alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

In 2023, she opted to go back into education to obtain a Masters degree and was incredibly open about how daunting she found the decision.

“Because I’m in a career that moves very quickly, the decision to take time to do these things felt like a very big decision,’ Watson told British Vogue at the time.

“To go back and write and study and get behind the camera was terrifying for me because I’d never done it before. I had always been in front of the camera; I’d always been an actor.’

One thing that Watson did do while returning to university was find a rumoured boyfriend, thought to be named Kieran Brown.

According to The Sun newspaper, Brown is a PhD student researching 19th century literature and economics at Oxford University, the same college Watson enrolled at.

An insider told the outlet, “Emma is studying creative writing, and his thesis is all about literary theory—so they have a lot to talk about. She looks so loved up with Kieran.”

Watson reflected on how she finds dating incredibly hard throughout her life in the spotlight. She confessed that she can’t do dating apps but often would do blind dates with friends of friends.

“Dating apps are not on the cards for me. I’m very lucky in the sense that because I went to university and because I’ve done these other things outside of film, my friends are really good at setting me up. Really good. And what’s really nice is some of my best friends are people I got set up on a date with and it didn’t work out,” she told British Vogue in 2019.

“I didn’t think it was possible,” Watson continued. “And it really is possible. And it’s actually great.”

She later reflected on how important she finds her relationships, both platonic and romantic, in the post-pandemic era.

She told the same outlet in 2024, “Coming out of COVID, I really understood the importance of building community, having community and investing, very intentionally, time and energy into that.”
