Krafton, the company behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, is breaking records and has earned a massive amount of revenue in 2024 compared to ever before. It didn’t only make skyrocketing sales but made impressive profits.
PUBG Power: The Driving Force Behind Success
With exciting projects lined up for 2025, Krafton has plans to grow even bigger while also exploring new technologies to stand out in the competitive gaming industry.
On February 11, 2025 Krafton put forward its finance results in an Investor Relations (IR) briefing (Via Press.Krafton) . The company shared monumental stats of sales: 2.7 trillion KRW ($1.4 billion USD) and a profit: 1.18 trillion KRW ($826 million USD) made in 2024.
These numbers are 41.8% higher in sales and 54% higher in profits compared to last year. Now, what’s the real deal behind all this success? The PUBG franchise is a major strength and has been continuously contributing to the company’s success.
The game’s popularity has increased, and attracted a large pool of players with its Free-to-Play model; this switch has resulted in 890,000 concurrent players on PC and consoles.
Moreover, in India alone, BGMI: Battlegrounds Mobile India is doing pretty well in that it surpassed the sales record and boosted the money generation through mobile by 35.7%; again, this figure beats last year’s stats.
Future Vision: AI and New Franchises on the Horizon
Besides PUBG, Krafton has collaborated with a variety of brands that helped it expand its business. It has also made smart business moves, collaborating with brands and expanding into mobile gaming.
Now, company has higher aims to maintain this thriving status in 2025, looking forward to expanding PUBG with new games, maps, and game modes and crafting new franchises that could become another epitome of success for the company.
This year, in January, Krafton shared the vision for 2025 and unfolded its plans regarding bringing the advanced technology in current games like PUBG and inZOI, it mentioned about the CPC: Co-playable characters in PUBG that will be more than NPCs or bots will act as the teammate throughout the matches.
For this purpose, it has joined hands with NVIDIA and OpenAI to improve AI features in games. CEO CH Kim stated, “While continuing to expand the PUBG IP, we will accelerate the discovery of a new franchise IP to further reinforce our competitive edge in the global gaming market,”
further added that “With our AI technology defining the future of gaming experiences, we aim to evolve beyond game development as a company that ultimately advances the global entertainment ecosystem.”
